Bylaw Enforcement
The Town of Carstairs introduced a Peace Officer early in 2005. Protective Services Officer Arlene Andrews is the contact for enforcement of all bylaws within the town, as well as handling animal control complaints.
A selection of the Town's most requested bylaws are available on the Bylaws page of our website. If you are interested in a specific matter, please feel free to contact the Town Office with your inquiry.
Carstairs/Didsbury Citizens on Patrol
Citizens on Patrol (COP) is a non-profit organization of volunteers who assist the local RCMP detachment. The relationship provides law enforcement personnel with a valuable observation and reporting system. Pairs of volunteers patrol Carstairs during the night and report any suspicious vehicles or activities.
The presence of COP in communities help reduce the number of vandalism and other crimes, due to the number of patrols taken on by the Citizens on Patrol organization. While on patrol, if anything of a suspicious nature is observed, the volunteers are able to relay the information to the police force.
New volunteers are always welcome. The commitment is one night per month. For more information, contact Jack Paterson at 403.337.3501 or Bob Disney at 403.337.3204.
