2012 Photo Contest: All Year
Send us your photos that show us you agree - Carstairs is an amazing place to live! The contest closing date is December 31st, 2012.
New in 2012
There will now be prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd submissions. The three winners will be highlighted on the Town website. All photos submitted must be taken within the Town of Carstairs town limits.
To enter please complete the Entry/Release form and provide your name, email address, phone number and information about the photo/photos, like the date, the area where the photo was taken, and any other important information.
Note: Please be aware that by entering your photos in this contest, that you have given your consent to the Town of Carstairs and its marketing partners permission to use for marketing and advertising purposes. We welcome photos of people in them as long as consent has been given by those individuals that are recognizable.
Photos and Entry/Release forms may be emailed, or dropped off at the Town Office. For more information about the Photo Contest, please see the Official Photo Contest Rules and Photo Contest Entry/Release Form.
Family Day: 3rd Monday in February
Lots of activities and fun for the whole family! Memorial Park, the Gazebo, and Roulston Museum will be the hot spots for this exciting day! Watch the website and newspaper for upcoming information.

Summer Solstice 5K Walk/Run: June 21st
The Town of Carstairs, Carstairs Connections, and Alberta Health encourage the community to celebrate the first day of summer!
You can enter as a team or as an individual participant. Entry fee is $35 per person,and includes a T-shirt. All funds raised will go to support a project in our community.

Summer Sports With Dagan: July & August
Every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from July 19th to August 18th
- All activities are held at the Memorial Arena.
- Ages 6 to 9 years from 10 am - 12:30 pm
- Ages 10 to 13 years from 2 pm-4:30 pm
- $10 per week or $5 Drop In
Canada Celebrations: July 1st
Celebrate Canada's Birthday with Carstairs! Memorial Park will be bursting with activities all afternoon and evening.

The annual Bike Parade, sponsored by Gold Seal Homes, will start off the events.

A Slo-Pitch tournament and our very own Carstairs Cubs will be hosting a Baseball tournament all weekend!

Bounce houses and slides of all sizes, sponsored by Carstairs Ag Society will start off our evening activities at 5:00 p.m., and then join us for our Street Dance. Of course, we can't celebrate Canada's Birthday without a display of fireworks in Memorial Park to end the night!
It's a fun day of celebration for our great country in our wonderful community!
Beef & Barley Days: 3rd Week in July
Festivities include a rodeo, fireworks display, pancake breakfast and one of the best parades in rural Alberta. There's a trade & craft show, kids games & activities, pet show ball games and food venders as well as a roast beef supper followed by a cabaret!
Mountain View Music Fest: 2nd weekend in August
This grass roots music festival showcases Alberta's talent as well as a variety of Canadian acts, more than 30 performances, over 3 days, includes an artisan's market, art gallery, artist merchandise, kids zone. Features Chamber car show, breakfast, night venues & beer gardens.
Horticulture & Craft Show: 3rd Weekend in August
Presented by the Green Thumbs& Friends & Carstairs Agricultural Society.
Show books and entry tags are available at Co-op, Henry Foods, Dollar Store, Carstairs Pharmasave & Carmens Foods at Crossfield. Show book also available at the Carstairs 2020 website. For more information call 403-337-2186 or 403-337-2265

- Admission: Adult $2 and children 12 & under $1.

Drive in Movie: August 30th
The Carstairs Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Carstairs proudly present this fun event for the whole family. The parking lot at Memorial Arena will become the stage for our annual drive in movie. This event has become one of the most anticipated and appreciated evenings of the year in our Community.
Watch for posters to find out what the movie will be this year! There is no charge for this event; we just ask that you bring along an item for our youth food bank. Of course, the concession will be open with fresh popcorn!
Walk for the Health of It: September to April
Walk for the Health of it is a joint initiative between the Town of Carstairs and Carstairs Connections. It begins each November and finishes up in April. Participants can register online and log in their weekly steps or kilometers.
We are able to track the group's progress as well as each individual walker. Walkers can choose where they'd like to exercise whether it is on a treadmill, the streets or the walking track at the Carstairs Memorial Arena. Everyone is encouragedto join!
Pumpkin Festival: Last Saturday in September
The Pumpkin Festival began in 1984 as a way to put Carstairs on the map! There is a little something for everyone.Come view our pumpkin contests, taste our delicious pies, and shop our local vendors' tables for home made baking, crafts, and preserves.
There are table rentals, a pumpkin and scarecrow competition, the Pumpkin King and Queen, entertainment, baking competition and a mini trade show.
Christmas Craft Fair: November
The Christmas Craft fair is held at the Carstairs Community Hall each november. Local artists sell jewelry, crafts, specialty items, baked goods, and a variety of other unique items. Watch for upcoming details.
Remembrance Day Ceremonies at the Royal Canadian Legion: November 11th
Ceremonies are held at the Community Hall and at the Cenotaph at Memorial Park (TBA)
Crazy Carstairs Christmas: 1st Friday in December
A magical night in Carstairs when the town transforms into a winter wonderland for both children and parents and the Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Carstairs Crazy Christmas.
This night offers a chance to scoop up late night shopping with excellent deals from local merchants and is also a time for families to enjoy exciting festivities at Memorial Park. There arefree hot dogs, hot chocolate and coffee. Kids will also be able to play with Puffy and Pudgy, the penguins, who are always a hit. And the best part of all? The fireworks!
Santa's Gone Looney: First Saturday in December
Kids: join us upstairs at the arena and our team of Christmas Experts will help you pick out that perfect gift for mom and dad. Bring one loony per gift and shop away! We'll wrap it up tight so no parents can peek!!!
Parents: Please send gift bags with your kids to speed up the wrapping line!
If you have some items that you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at either the Town Office or the Arena Concession.
