There are many great residential subdivisions in town, offering safety and a real sense of community. Family is important in Carstairs. Check out the many programs we offer young families. Our recreation facilities include soccer fields, tennis courts, arena and curling rink, as well as a splash park now in the planning stages. The campground is simply beautiful, and features a replica grain elevator with many historical items on exhibit.

Carstairs is more than just a peaceful little town. There are many activities for tourists in the area. Whether it's just a weekend away from the city, or an extended family holiday, include some of our Area Hot Spots in your travels. They include Custom Woolen Mills, Joe Lucas' Westworld, Pasu Farm, and Silver Willow Golf & Sporting Clays, and many more.

Beef & Barley Days, Mid July each year
Come to Carstairs for the rodeo in July.Beef & Barley Days is our annual event with something for the whole family! The Town of Carstairs is proud to host the many activities that our tireless volunteers spend countless hours planning.

The 2010 event took place July 16, 17, and 18th.

Festivities include a rodeo, fireworks display, pancake breakfast, and one of the best parades in rural Alberta!

There's also a trade & craft show, kids games & activities, pet show, ball games and food vendors, as well as a roast bee supper, followed by a cabaret.

Mountain View Music Fest, August 5 - 7, 2011
If you really want to have a good time, mark your calendars and come to Carstairs for the Mountain View Music Fest. This is a grassroots music festival showcasing Alberta's talent, as well as a variety of Canadian acts. A showcase of more than 30 performances over 3 days, including an artisan's market, art gallery, artists merchandise tent, kid zone, Chamber car show and breakfast, night venues, and beer gardens.
