COMMITMENT

The Town of Carstairs Council and Administration will do their utmost to keep these commitments to Carstairs residents, businesses, town employees and their service providers:

1. Respect and Service
   • In all our activities, we, as a service provider will demonstrate respect to each individual and organization with which we interact,
   • Provide service in a fair and non discriminatory way,
   • Provide service in a prompt and courteous manner,
   • Customers will be encouraged to provide both formal and informal feedback to Council and all employees of Council.

2. Operating the affairs of the Town in a positive and business like manner
   • Council will follow sound financial practices that ensure responsible fiscal management,
   • Council will deliver services to the citizens of Carstairs in the most cost effective manner possible,
   • Council determined priorities will drive both the operating and capital budgets,
   • Council will promote and pursue innovation and creative approaches to meeting the needs of the citizens of the Town of Carstairs.

3. Stewardship
   • Council recognizes and accepts its obligations to both current citizens and future generations and the need to operate in a fiscally responsible manner,
   • Council is committed to protecting the quality of life of its citizens.

4. Leadership
   • Council will provide leadership by developing a clear vision for the community and constantly working towards achieving that vision,
   • Council will conduct its business within established procedures and protocols based on mutual respect and due process,
   • All decisions of Council will be based upon a careful analysis of all alternatives and what is in the best interests of the citizens of the Town of Carstairs.
   • Council will encourage open, frank and timely communication with citizens,
   • Council will advocate for the citizens of Carstairs and will constantly pursue available alternative financing sources that will not burden the citizens of the town.
   • Council will be results oriented and will provide for on-going evaluations of all programs and personnel.
   • Council will embrace change that benefits the citizens of Carstairs.

5. Recognition
   • Council will engage top level staff and will recognize that this staff is its most valued resource,
   • Council is committed to being a learning organization and believes in the value of individual growth and development.
   • Staff will be accountable and empowered, having the authority and responsibility to deliver top-notch service to the citizens of Carstairs.
   • Staff will be encouraged to participate in the policy development of the organization.
   • Compensation will be fair, market sensitive and encourage individual initiative.

It is also appealing to seniors and retirees, who find the laid back pace a welcome respite. Seniors are a valuable asset to our community, sharing their wisdom and expertise by volunteering in many civic events and organizations.
