PLAYGROUNDS

Playgrounds are inspected on a weekly basis. To report a problem with a playground structure, please call 403.337.3446 or contact the Town Office.

BALL DIAMONDS

Ball Diamonds can be rented out for tournaments on a daily rate.  Complete the written agreement and return to the Town Office.

GREEN SPACE

Use of a green space, or recreation area for a function, event, festival, or wedding requires a permit.  There is no cost for these functions.


GAZEBO

Use of the Gazebo for a function, event, festival, or wedding requires a permit.  There is a nominal fee for the use of the gazebo, as well as a deposit.

CONCESSION

To use the concession for a function, event, festival, or wedding requires a permit.  There is a nominal fee for the use of the concession, as well as a deposit. 


WALKING TRAILS


The Town of Carstairs has prioritized the development of beautiful landscaping, walking, and bike trails throughout the community.  Many of the trails are located in the Carstairs Memorial Park and throughout the town. The Town of Carstairs is planning paved walking trails on a yearly basis.

Outdoor Fitness Equipment - Open

The outdoor fitness equipment is available all year long!  Enjoy a walk in Memorial Park and then stop for a workout on our outdoor fitness equipment!  Carstairs Outdoor Fitness Park - Beginner Workout is now available!  Please see the document section below for more.

The Carstairs Community Hall opened in the early 1990s and is used by organizations in and around the community.

With seating for 540 (350 for dining), a complete sound system, and kitchen facilities, the hall is a terrific facility for hosting mini-conventions, weddings, fundraisers, craft shows, community events and banquets.

Rental Rates

The Carstairs Community Curling Rink is located right in the heart of town beside Memorial Park.
Home to the Horticultural Show and Pumpkin Festival during the fall, and a very busy place in the winter, the rink features four sheets of ice, a lounge and a concession.
This facility is owned by the Town of Carstairs.

The Carstairs Community Golf Course is conveniently located within Town limits, just ½ km north of town on the east side of Highway 2A, thirty minutes north of Calgary. This is a full 18-hole, challenging golf course, featuring water hazards, sand traps, and beautifully landscaped grounds.

The course is fitted with a practice green, and amenities include licensed dining facilities in the clubhouse, a snack bar and coffee shop, lessons, club rentals, pull or power carts, and of course, the Pro Shop. There is also an outdoor patio and barbecue facilities.

From sport tournaments to conferences, bike rodeos to family dances, the Carstairs Memorial complex can accommodate your needs. Consisting of an arena, running track, concession, washrooms, elevator, change rooms and small meeting rooms, the complex is a hub of activity.

  • Walking Track Summer Hours Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30p.m. 

Please check our Rates Bylaw for the current fees to renting the arena.

Want to host a tournament or need extra ice time for your team?
Large blocks of ice time are available.  For times and rates please contact the Memorial Arena at 403.337.3391.

The Carstairs Rodeo Grounds are located at the south end of town near the Community Hall. Held in conjunction with Carstairs Beef and Barley Days, the third weekend in July, the Carstairs Rodeo is great family fun.

The Junior Rodeo is held on Friday morning with events including Barrel Racing, Poles, Breakaway Roping, Keyhole and Thread the Needle.

The CARA Rodeo takes place Friday night and Saturday.  Events have included Bareback, Steer and Bull Riding; Team Tie-down and Breakaway Roping; and Barrel Racing. Bonus events sometime include Wild Pony Races, Mutton Bustin' and Wild Cow Milking. Visit Central Alberta Rodeo Association's website for more info on the association.

A High School (including Jr High) Rodeo takes place every year in September. Events have included Steer Riding, Barrel Racing, Poles, Breakaway Roping, Tie-down Roping & Goat Tying.

2019 Carstairs Provincial Sports Award Winners

Each year the Town recognizes individuals and teams within the community that have qualified and participated at a provincial level in their sport. Participation for the 2019 year will be recognized in the spring of 2020.Submission Deadline is March 31, 2020. Applications may be picked up at the Town office or online at www.carstairs.ca.
